Granted, this is a little late to be asking, but...is this happening?
Wasn't sure if communications had moved elsewhere.

What's the deadline?
so I can have some Ex! News Bytes done
I'm prepping a bigger paper for Q2:
"Playing Hungry: Hunger Games in Eclipse Phase"
That's right! I'm bringing Panem to our favorite setting, as an extrasolar colony. I'm not talking about the 74th Hunger Games and subsequent Quarter Quell, nor talking about Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Haymish, Prim, Rue and the rest, but more about the origin of Panem, about Presidents Snow and Coin, and how they can be interpreted in the game.
So, a happy new year, and may the odds be forever in your favor!
I should have three articles ready for Q1, which are already being commented upon, expanded and corrected.
-My Path - Dr. Julianne Ferguson: a short story that leads to a character profile.
-A list of films, books and videogames with interesting EP ideas (common work, not my own, I just put it down)
-Faction - Industrialists: a new faction to add to the game, written long ago for the forum and wiki.
If I can get myself to write it, I also have in mind an introductory scenario/mission for people who don't know EP and want to learn playing.
Thank you thank you thank you to all of you for keeping this afloat while I was checked out at the beginning of this quarter. I got a one-two punch at the end of the year (all good stuff, but it was a lot of major life upheaval). I'm going to spend this even working on edits for everything in the queue to get us some progress for Iss 5.
I maintain the site. If you see bugs, or have a feature request, please let me know here: http://www.firewall-darkcast.com/forum/9
Digging into the queue today, it looks like we're actually really short on articles. I'm not actually sure we *will* have enough for this, as much as I would like to keep this going I'm not sure we have the underlying momentum at this point.

I'll scrounge some stuff up.
I've got about 5 half hone articles on the desktop that I should be able to turn into something.
What's the deadline, since we're short of article?
At this point I'm not honestly sure we'll make Q1. Between a late start on things and honestly thin article selection it might be worthwhile to hold off on Q1 and go to a two-a-year schedule instead? In which case it would be a Q2/Q4 (April/Sept) release.
Before making that call I'd like to hear from others in this project. What do we need to do to pull this zine together for the long haul?

I have -or had- a big article on how to fit the Hunger Games in an EP setting.
Not the part described in the books, mind you but a general setting for the GM to play around.
Ie making Panem a bioconservative Reclaimer Gatecrashing colony, and its origins and leaders
My primary goal are a May deadline for some academic papers I'm working on.
I'm working on a 3-part fiction piece which I'm hoping to have ready for each subsequent quarter here. Nothing more for Q1.
Would three issues a year be easier for the crew?
it gives us an April, August and December release
Hewhocutsdown, can you give us the pitch of your short novel?
I'd love to hear what the three-part piece is.
Work-work and school-work always trumph hobby-work as far as I'm concerned, so no worries there.
I think this year we do need to really get the momentum issues sorted out on this work or call it. We're not seeing the uptick I was hoping to see at this point. It strikes me that the rate of editing, while not necessarily the fastest or promptest - is at least minimally sufficient. More would be better but we're just not getting new blood in our contributors. We're short on material to edit.
So the question becomes: what can be done to get articles / art / momentum to a reliable point.
Is there a slice of audience we're not reaching?
Is there a better intake / review method that we should use to get content in?
Should we be proactively approaching potential authors to pull material, if so - who and in what venue - and how to keep that from becoming an accidental 'gatekeeper' preventing direct submissions? (And should certainly not be just one person doing the canvassing.)

Some quick ideas.
In no particular order.
We need an EP main site blog post to advertise.
We need some official content, interview with one or all of the EP three.
We need to have a link to a page that we can direct people with ideas to.
We need a cheerleader.
And we need a this is what we need for each issue and the next issue checklists.
Follow-up to kindalas; perhaps have each issue with it's own main editor/cheerleader. That way it's not the same person(
driving every issue.
I'll give present my ideas on my short story a little later tonight.
Okay, I have two things.
First, I have a scenario plot that I need assistance turning into an actual scenario; I've never GMed or written scenarios, and don't really know what to watch for, there.
The scenario is called The Reagan Heist, and involves a rendevous on a Reagan cylinder populated mostly by Jovian refugees. You are there to obtain a [redacted] from a former Jovian engineer; however, you don't have the ability to pay, and resort to a complicated heist involving [redacted] disruption and [redacted] networks.
Secondly, I have the three-part story, working title of The Seven Objects of Creation, that takes place on Sol. The protagonist is an anthropologist that arranges to have his ego inserted into the morph destined for a particular, techno-primitivist pod.
This pod is one of several that, composed of whale and dolphin uplifts, have collectively renounced most of the benefits posthumanism offers. They do not back up, nor fork, nor change morphs. When their life period ends, they have a death ceremony and the one whose time has come swims into the core. Their only contact outside of the Sol pods is with a group of Argonauts. They trade information on the paths and currents of Sol for new births and morphs; one of which our protagonist has taken on.
Each pod has a leader, but each pod also has a sage, or shaman; not responsible for leading the pod, but can read the current and explain phenomena all the way down to the level of the quantum. The protagonist becomes this pod's initiate; learning both the ways of the pod and the lessons necessary to become the shaman's replacement.
I have a couple plot drivers for this, involving massive sun storms and a horror element that isn't ready for discussion yet.
I must admit I have no ideas on the matter. Will think on it, but I can't seem to be able to add anything new. Sorry.
Re: campaign idea - yes definitely a good thing to work on. If not the Eye then as a year release. So I would go ahead with it either way really.
The ideas / needs that stand out to me from the list we have:
a) We can get a EP plug from the main folks.
b) We can get an interview (I may have to hunt them down a bit, but we can. There was an interview sent to them for Q4 last year but things blew up and we weren't able to wrap it.)
c) The page for ideas / submission. What should that page have on it? I can put that together easily.
d) Cheerleader / rotating editor hat. SO TOTALLY BEHIND THIS IDEA. Aside from keeping any one person from being the overall gatekeeper it also keeps us from accidentally bottlenecking on one person. Each issue gets it's own babysitter / coordinator.

I'm always happy to write articles. My problem is getting that initial seed
I can check through the forums again for what people say they'd like to see.
I'm running a game IRL which jumps back and forth between EP and other settings and has some cool stuff I could pull in, but they tend to get a little ... extreme (for instance, there's a character who is moving backwards in time, so the first time the PC encounters him is the last time he encounters the PC). But if we're open to being a little softer on the side of science fiction, going into the realm of bonkers, I'd be happy to write them up.
> there's a character who is moving backwards in time, so the first time the PC encounters him is the last time he encounters the PC
That sounds *awesome*
It is extremely brain-bending to try and run, and thinking on it, I don't know how I'd help another GM try. I'll put up something else I was working on, however.
Unfortunately, a lot of our setting ended up using magic (since it was an offshoot of Shadowrun). Hmm ... maybe I need to write an alternate setting? I'll consider.
Nezumi, though your ideas seem quite interesting (very Hyperionesque, which are some of my favorite novels), I think they fall a bit outside EP. I mean, people who read or may read The Eye are interested in EP, not necessarily with other alternative settings (which would require lots of words for a good development). It's actually one of the things that's been lingering on my mind since I read the Mass Effect conversion, which I ended up looking at it and thinking "nice, indeed, but I can't use this in my standard-EP game in any way".
Thank you for the quick feedback on that, before I started writing
I'll leave it open, and if people want me to take a hand to introducing some basic magic rules, I'll give it a go.
Guys, when will the deadline for q1 be?

Yes totally definitely.
(Also late on my end, but I have the *entire* week off next.)
I fell behind due to moving and a new job so... bad time of year. But very much want to get this show started up again.
