So far for basic chat it works well but as I said earlier the notifications/alert doesn't seem to work.

As it is I don't see the chatroom being that much of a help just as a separate side page esp if it has few room and messaging options.
Ideally I'd love to see something like they have on the ParanoiaLive Forums where the chat box logs in when you log into the forums and runs above the forums themselves on the page in the top bar. That's a very tall order and the dev time might be spent better elsewhere, but there again might not.

would it be possible to to use an IRC client for the chat function instead of something special? I think there is more of those available for websites then seperate chat functions.

I've had mibbit recommended - and they have a Drupal module - that's a 2 for 1 bonus there... so we're going to test next with that module and see how that works.

That's exactly the one I went with actually #darkcast - I'm working on getting our bot up at this point so we can have karma and some basic logging services. I didn't see any rules against that at the darkmyst website

Do't know of any but Gameserv is only in registered channels and you have to have a registered nick for that.

Yep - got those going, but I was half hoping to be able to get the drupal bot to work for karma and logging purposes. Turns out it takes a pear module to work, and I don't feel like fiddling with that with our hosting service tonight. I think we can live without it for the moment.

I have a huge massive list of errors to look into with that chat room at this point. I hate to say this guys - but that one is a wash. I'm considering claiming the code and fixing it but it will take quite some time to do so in my off hours.
At this point I'm shopping around for other offerings, including a few suggestions from some of you here. If you have additional suggestions, let me know - otherwise as soon as I have something that looks reasonable I'll open it up to testing and see if anyone likes it.
