08.27.09 Added Chat for testing (so far, not doing as well as hoped)

08.28.09 Disabled side box toggles on IE. Still seeing bizarre CSS behavior on right rail.

08.29.09 Disabled Chat - failed testing. Will be looking into alternatives or into fixing the existing module.

Re: Site Updates

09.12.09 - Final revision of BBCode and Wiki input formats. We now have the Imagepicker module up and running. Image picker will allow you to upload your images to the site to include them in your text - so please feel free to include visuals in your posts.

Ask me if you need some help making the imagepicker work.

Re: Site Updates

Thanks for doing all this work! So far I'm finding this (by far) the best board I've seen.

Thank you Smile
I'm glad it's working out well! Please let me know if there are additional features I can add to get more people using it!

Re: Site Updates

Generally I think that this is one of the best boards I've seen in terms of functionality. I don't think I've seen an integrated dice roller and wiki anywhere, those are particularly excellent.
Kinda a tangent

It's, uhm, weird that Posthuman (or whoever runs the EP website) doesn't pimp this site more.

I found it randomly, right after Gen Con. Then when I went back to their site a few days ago it had fallen off the front page and it was literally impossible to find. For a day I was convinced I'd imaginined it until I started digging through my browser (fortunately I'd bookmarked it...)

You made it after a conversation during GenCon, right? And it's much much better, not only than their forum (about which it's best to say as little as possible), but also most (all?) fan wiki/forums.

As it is I think most people get to their site (which is fine/good), poke around, go to the forums, have a complete mental breakdown and leave.

They're flushing their buzz down the toilet. (or at least sending it to rpg net...)edit: urg, big missspeak... they seem to have fixed everything....

For better or worse content is king. If people post and feel like people will respond to them, or see cool stuff/fun games happening they will come around.
And the EP site should aggressively link here (they asked for it after all). On the tech side "you have built it"; it's just a question of whether "they will come". So-to-speak.

Minor technical stuff

None of this will significantly (at all) effect usage. I'm just mentioning it because you asked (I'm like that... :/ )
  • Preview button doesn't work for me, but it may be me
  • For people who look at forums at work an all black background is No Good. An option to do "bog standard" (white background, black text) usually comes up a lot for that segment.

Re: Site Updates

You may have noticed a similar update notification style between admin here and sysop at the EP site. This is not a coincidence Wink So you should see some vast improvements over there in the following week or so. The folks at EP had their previous webbie leave due to baby, so don't blame them entirely for it - they've been trying to locate someone to fix it up for awhile.

I'll check re: the preview button, that's working for me so I shall look into it. And I can turn on some of the alternate themes for the site - I'll need to confirm that the information blocks will be in place for them though.

Any ideas on how to enhance our content production levels? I was thinking of digging into a series of SRD wiki pages.

Re: Site Updates

Ahh. It is clear to me now (which is to say that the rapid improvement was surprising).
And, randomly, a Yay! for gamer babies. I'm breeding my own as well.

I sorta wound up responding here to the content question.

I haven't seen the SRD but whatever's in there belongs in the wiki... for sure.

10.19.09 - Updated mediwiki flexifilter to handle wiki style listings. * and # now work as expected for wiki articles. Yay!

Re: Site Updates

The site has been 404ing all over the place for me. Part of this is on my side, because my work internet connection isn't great, but the site has been acting up even at times where other sites are doing fine.

Also, when editing articles, if I click to expand the options below, they overlap for me, making them illegible.

Re: Site Updates

I'm getting the same, it's related to the move to the new server. I've put in for the upgrade to the server today around noon so as soon as they finish getting our site moved over then we should see a sharp increase in performance.

re: The expansion: what browser, what version of browser, are you using? It's possible the 404's are preventing the javascript controlling the collapse / un collapse from working, but it might be browser related too - so let me know.

Re: Site Updates

I'm using ie 7.0 through the corporate gateway. It's pretty well locked down, but javascript is enabled.

Re: Site Updates

And looks like the VPS has kicked in now. We should be seeing a drop in the 404 results now, let me know if otherwise.
